Paleoindian Lanceolate Biface.

This is the oldest artifact I have ever found or even touched. It is 10,600-12,000 year old paleoindian lanceolate bi-face. It is made from a greenish flow banded rhyolite. which is an extrusive volcanic rock common in southern New Brunswick where I found this. I feel truly humbled by finding something so special.

That is a beautiful piece. I grew up close to an island in Maine that is made of rhyolite. The natives would travel hundreds of miles just to get to Kineo island for its fantastic rhyolite. It's amazing to think just how important a specific type of "stone" could be to these people. It basically allowed them to have the right implements just to survive. Thanks for posting that incredible find

The head of the Anthropology dept. at University of New Brunswick told me in his letter after holding the stone for many years and comparing it to other finds in our area (which have all been debitage and broken stones). To me the only matches in flaking style and size i can find is the Solutrean stones.

How bout these. One is Ovate but not made of Rhyolite.
Chalcedony ovate blade with a square base found together.
Found in Montana.
Find made by "Rock Queen"
