I don't know how well versed you guys are in artwork but you've never let me down before so I figured it was worth a shot.
I grew up with this print/painting on the wall and my mother always told me it was of Joan of Arc but other people who have seen it have had their doubts and now I have mine. I was just watching a documentary about King Arthur and it showed the same print while discussing Sir Lancelot. I've been searching all over for more information but have found nothing. Any ideas? Maybe it is someone else entirely?

As far as other examples of Artist's renditions go, it does seem to be a depiction of Joan of Arc. I would ask, in what context was this print/painting discussed on the documentary that you watched in reference to Sir Lancelot. I mean Lancelot is more of a folk tale at best, while Joan of Arc was an actual person as well as a Catholic Saint.

They were just talking about Lancelot as images scrolled by the screen depicting him, there was no mention of Joan of Arc at all in the entire show. Also I did a Google image search for Lancelot print and came up with the same one I have. It was on an auction site with no mention of the prints origins so I'm unsure if I can trust it as a reliable source. I believe in the past I've seen it offered online as Joan of Arc as well.

Mackay, I did not see anything written on the back and there was no signature I could find. I would double check but I'm not in possession of the piece.

The image corresponds to others for The Maid of Orleans, the armour, horse furniture and hairstyle fall into the same style for the Victorian "Romantic" period. Without better photo's it would be hard to tell for certain, but I'm going with Joan of Arc, for now :icon_thumleft:

I would if I had easy access to it but my mother owns the print and I don't know when I'll be at her house again. If I'm there and I remember this request I'll be sure to take pictures.

BigCypress, that is the site I saw it on as well.

I'm impressed with myself lol...my first initial guess on seeing this painting was dead on! Unfortunately i decided to look at your guesses first, and wasted time on Joan and Lancelot. >:(

Your painting is "Sir Galahad" - George Frederick Watts. :)

You know, I was kinda wondering if it was nether of the two I was searching for but I just didn't have it in me to search other famous knights. Thanks for the ID, my mom will be disappointed know doubt but I'm glad to finally know what it is.
Thanks to everyone else as well, I appreciate all your help. I knew I could count on this place. Since so many people are interested in the frame I'll be sure to get better pictures of it when I can.

Interesting aside: According to T.H. White's excellent book The Once and Future King Sir Lancelot called himself "The Ill-Made Knight" ("Chevalier mal fet" - he was French). He was "as homely as an ape."

Why do you need to tell her? After all this time, you know, but does she need to? I'd keep quiet unless asked.... but that's my personal view.

Because even if disappointed I would want to be told if I were in her position. Now because of this information she knows who the painting is of, who painted it and when it was painted and that is information I would want to know as opposed to knowing nothing about it at all.
