Found this today and I have no idea what it is. It is very heavy, non-magnetic and if I had to guess I would say lead but it is not pliable and I pinch it with pliers and it was too hard to smash. I found it in an old town. The top part is obviously made of ferous material as it is rusting. The only marking is on the front the back is smooth. I have no idea what this is.

this thing weighs in at 10.5 ounces. I don't think it was a lure and I don't think there would be anywhere to put a hook. But maybe. . .

Weird. Could it be bronze? I have no idea. What are those little spots all over the front?

Net weight or a duck decoy weight???

the marks are acutally indentions in the material. I would understand a weight if it didn't have the decoration on the front. It was definitely made to hang from something since the top has the rusty piece of metal on it that is the traditional triangle shape used today on keychains etc. But I think it is pretty old. I still don't think it is a fishing lure.

Are the little indents possibly bb or pellet pock marks? It almost looks as if it been for target practice.

It looks more like lead or pot metal and the spots look like corrosion to me. They are also on the inside.
At first I thought a spoon lure also with part of steel hook remaining, but not sure. :-\

The item is very heavy there would be no way to cast it. There is no curve to the item it is flat, it is non-magnetic so I don't think it is pot metal?? Is pot metal magnetic. It is not soft like lead would be. It has me really confused. I did some research on the spot where Ifound it, the place has been a small post office for years. Other than that I can find nothing else out about it that gives me any clues.

Window shade or curtain weight? IF so, might be bronze instead of lead. Bronze is non-magnetic and very hard.

Definate Lead-alloy.

Could be a clock movement weight (different than a pendulum). Note the two blocks in the picture - Lead clock weights:
