Here in farm country the old timers would sometimes bring artifacts home found farming and pile them by a tree. More than one tossed artifacts under the front porch. Back in the day they weren’t worth anything or very little. There is a barn near Collinsville IL that has a foundation made from field stone. Cemented in the foundation are a dozen Mill Creek spades like they used at Cahokia. They were just rocks back then.
