This morning I decided to test out my new 4 X 6 DD coil to see how well it performed. I headed over to a park that I had hunted before and had found quite a bit before. There was one part of the park that I hated to hunt because of all the trash, so I figured this was the area to put this coil to the test. Keep in mind that I had hunted this area before with my 9 1/2" coil, and digging all the trash nearly drove me crazy. To say the least, I was impressed with the performance of the new coil. It was picking out targets that I had totally missed before due to masking, or being too close to larger metal objects, such as metal pipes on playsets and reinforced concrete. In a little over an hour I had found a good bit of clad, a couple of pieces of junque jewelry, a skull and cross ear ring, and a ring that has some sort of writing on the inside and outside of the band. It's not a deep detecting coil, but it sure found the good targets among the trash. The next test will be the soccer fields where I don't dig the deep targets anyway so I don't mess up the fields. Now I'm off to a BBQ of venison and elk.

Sweet Finds, i see alot of jewlery there , do you ever get skunked? great job, later tg

Yea, I get skunked, but not very often. The last time was Sunday, and after all morning of searching this place I thought would produce some older coins, all I came away with was 38 cents and a ton of old beer bottle caps. I call that skunked. You can't have a good day every day. I figure I have some slim days coming because I am going to start redoing a soccer field I did a few months ago that produced the most silver rings so far. This time with this new coil to find what I missed the first go round. I will be posting the results as I go.

Way to go Dave! That's amazing to find that much in an area you've hunted, I'd say you got a keeper with that new coil!

Now, when will this venison and elk be done???

BBQ AT DAVES ;D

Great hunt there, Texan!
The skull and crossbones is just a reminder
of the true treasure hunting ancestory. LOL
I miss a good ole fashion Texas BBQ!

;D Nice finds Dave, now tell me, what did you do with the girl that had that bunny around her neck? Will that 4x6 DD coil work on my XLT? Like all of us old farts, I'm always looking for more equipment. HH buddy How's the rain down there?

Thar's what it's made for. Look on the Whites site for the 4 X 6 DD Shooter coil.
The rains been off and on, and I'm off to find that girl this morning. ;) :D

Nice job. Glad to hear the DD coil works as advertised. I've got a 5.3 already so I order a 6x10 DD coil that should be in this week.

Near one of the charts in the back of DDWTDFX, a comment is made that the 5.3 and the DD coils allow for higher PREAMP gain as well as increased AC/DC sensitivity. I know with my 5.3 I've been able to run at the higher levels and like you have found things in trashy areas that I previously missed.

Hello Pigman

I also bought the 4x6,for my M6,about three weeks ago and have been using it exclusivily since. Been going over areas that were too trashy for my stock coil and have been doing real well. I really enjoy the coil esp on one of the athletic tracks where the stands used to be. I believe that this coil opens up areas to detect that other M.D.er's can't cover. In effect new virgin territory. ;)

Good finds and determination. H.H.

You can still get good depth too because you can turn up the Preamp and AC sense. The more I use it, the better I like it. It takes a lot of weight off too.
