I wanted to see how many of you have had unusual experiences while dumping your clad. Aside from the usual questions from unknowing tellers, I've only had one situation about get out of hand... Happened about a month ago, when dumping 2K in halves. A customer comes up to the machine and starts yelling that I'm throwing away a fortune! This is a cummins jetsort machine where the coins are dropped into the well (the cummins machine without the holed screen for those of you that are familiar with both types). Before I knew it he reached into the machine a grabbed a handful of halves. I calmly told him to get his hands off my money and back away. He did so, but kept telling me that I was throwing away a fortune. I was able to complete the dump, get my money, and get out of there without creating a huge scene inside the bank. I really could care less about causing a scene, but didnt want to screw up a good deal with the bank (which is an awesome dump bank). What are your unusual experiences and outcomes while dumping clad?

btw, stopping the dump to try to sell some of the halves to this guy was out of the question as he was just scum tagging along with someone else who was trying to get a loan at the bank.

I have the usual looks when I have 4 bags of halves sitting next to me in the merchant area. Only once did someone remark that I shouldn't give all those "silver dollars" to the bank. I just smiled.

I did have an interesting conversation with a fellow who was a floor manager at a Vegas casino. Said they would take a couple thousand dollars in halves to the bank every day.

I open carry a 1911 .45 whenever I pick up or dump, surprisingly no one ever says anything, they must think I work for the bank.

Im surprised a guard didnt get involved. Getting load and grabbing ANY money that doesn't belong to you in a hand is a bad idea. good thing this idiot didnt get you ran off.

The Penny arcade machine at the TD bank I dump at likes to spit out my halves from the reject tray and sometimes they fall on the floor. While I was dumping an elderly customer comes over and says "Any coins that hit the floor are property of the sweeper, and I'm the sweeper! Ha Ha!" I got a kick out of it.

Ran into another CRHer at a bank, and I was dumping a coffee tin full of halves I had searched. The guy kept wanted to buy them not knowing I was a CRHer, and I was able to dump. When I was leave I told him "Yea you probably wouldn't of wanted those. They were a bunch of weird looking coins with like lady liberty and old looking people on them. They might of been old but I don't have the time, it was my grandfathers stash. See you later"

thats harsh MrSchulz

I've had some thug-like types check me out before while I was dumping... I usually just let my shirt/jacket/hoodie ride up enough so that my Glock is pretty obvious and they back off... One time the guy wouldn't lay off, though... was standing unusually close to me, and making me very uneasy. I finished dumping, and deposited my money instead of taking it as cash... only time I've ever felt uneasy enough to do that... the guy would have been an idiot to attempt robbing me, but I wasn't taking any chances.

My other interactions have been mostly positive, people asking me what I'm doing with so much change, how long it took me to save it all ("A day or so" usually invokes some weird responses, ha), stuff like that.

I can see some hoolum tryng to run to the bus stop with $2k in bagged halves...

No... but think about a dude you just watched cash in $2k in halves... who takes it back as cash, which is standard protocol for me... get in your car, follow him home, pull a gun, rob him, easy $2k. Or don't even follow him home, rob him right outside the bank as he's walking out. You get the idea... if people will kill one another over $100, what do you think they'd do for $2,000?

Does your bank allow you to OC? The banks around here don't. I've OC'ed a Bowie Knife, and been told I cannot be in there with that, probably just because im young, but within my legal rights.

The managers of the banks know I always carry... They're cool with it, although I know it makes some of the tellers uncomfortable at times. I certainly am not leaving my handgun in my car, last time someone broke into my car and stole my gun it was a PITA to get insurance to pay me for it.

Sorry for being immature, but the thread title made me laugh out loud literally.......

I cant stop someone from robbing me right outside of the bank, but I do take "the scenic route" when I am leaving a dump and heading for a pickup. Sometimes, I do some back-tracking, in hopes of avoid being followed. I try to leave it in the bank when I can, though... stay safe!!

i did the same thing, the guy was almost drooling on the floor!

I ran into a guy at my pick up bank. The guy was picking up dimes and I was picking up cents, and I asked if he was a crh, turns out he was. We had a 10 minute discussion on what we crh.

Done that a time or two. He's the one that told me about treasurenet, but I can't find him on here

Security is often overlooked. obviously it just depends on the situation. Luckily for me I live in a pretty nice area. Not to much to worry about. But when walking out of the bank with a lot of cash I am ready for confrontation while getting to my car. I walk fast, confidently and if anybody tries to stop me or ask me a question there going to get a bad surprise.
When carrying coin I don't worry about it. Who the hell is going to try an steal 50 lb worth of coin? It would have to be a pretty ruff area in which case there is almost always security. Definitley I watch for people following me home but what is more likely for me since I live in an apt complex is neighbors or gardners , painter, maintence people seeing me carry coin to and from my apt. That's my Biggest concern.
