Ordering my Ace 250 today

you are going to love it Just take the time to learn its language and it will tell you where all the goodies are. Then you just dig it like a pirate.

:icon_pirat: Thanks favored papa, I'll be sure to post my first haul. There is a park near me, so I'll try to hit it early in the am to practice.

Thanks westcowood, Dick and warsawdaddy, it'll be here Friday. :notworthy: I don't need the hand held scanner just yet do I?

Just dont take it to the beach...I had a very unproductive experience today. First time out with it at the beach and I was digging ghost holes, unable to pinpoint anything even close to my beach scoop size and it was very unstable in wet sand and the surf. Had to drop it down to 2 to 3 bars of sensitivity to get the machine to stabilize and then I lost a ton of depth. Good machine on land but I have found out its just not cut out for the beach... time for a beach machine purchase ... :dontknow:

It's more than a great first detector ,,, it's a great backup detector too ! :coffee2:

I've done OK on Florida Treasure Coast beaches in dry sand without having to reduce sensitivity. Wet sand is a different story, tho

I have a machine that works on wet sand nicely, but wet sand hasn;t produced much of anything for me this year. All my finds have been dry sand.

So if the same holds true for most of us, the 250 should have no problems at all at the beach.

My wife uses an ACE 250 and she does extremely well with it.I once went behind her with my GTI 2500 thinking I could find what she missed. She is good about gridding out an area and needless to say,I didn't find anything.I have a lot more respect for the small detector and the user.
