wow 2 silver dollars equal to 1.77344 oz of pure AG...

I would LOVE to have the ability to search through bags of large dollar coins, my bank could order them for me too, unfourtinately, I do not want to ruin any dump bank relationships dumping ikes on them, halves can even sometimes streach the welcome. I will stick with the half dollars. :icon_sunny:

I would not worry about killing any relationship with a dump bank. Try driving to a town or two over and drop them on another branch of your dump bank. I find most of my banks love them.

About to open the second bag....Anyone see anything interesting???

I spy a silver :icon_thumright: (or a foreign coin, or a fake :tongue3: )

It was a 1885 Morgan. I also pulled a 1921 Morgan. I still have 3/4 of the bag left to go.

Last thing besides various Ikes found in the second bag was a 1879 and a 1921 Morgan Dollar.

Wow, nice scores on them, finding a silver dollar is /very/ rare, let alone finding an Eagle, and 3 Morgans!

Awesome finds- I would love to be able to do bags of these- IF nothing else just to spend the Ike dollars would be fun. I think I would cut a big chunk out of my 1/2 dollar money just to search these, just on the off chance of finding some silver dollars-

Totally awesome-
Wish someone in the DC metro area knew of a bank that could/would do this...

I live in Maryland and work in Virginia. I've hit up a few banks and received some beat up Ikes but since they're not worth anything I just use them as tips when I go out for a drink.

Here is all the goodies I found in the 2 bags.

Ill probably get another 2 more bags this Friday.

To be honest I am jealous of your spectacular finds. I was at a collector show on sunday and some of the coin guys were trying to get $30 a piece for their morgans even though they are only worth about $25 as I write this. The level of success you had is just amazing.
You make searching half dollars, or any other denomination for silver look like a waste of time. You should go all out into searching large dollars.
Also what is the token(?) in the bottom left of the picture?

The token is a coin from the Excalibur Casino in Las Vegas I believe. I think its good to go through these coins, I already go through plenty of halves, it gives the hobby something new and exciting. I mean come on who would like to say they are searching for SILVER DOLLARS (MORGAN/PEACE) then silver quarters, halves or dimes. Don't get me wrong searching for dimes, quarters and halves is fun and exciting but let me tell you searching for actual silver dollars takes it to a whole nother level.

On that note- I have not sent out any in a long time, but I have switched up my major dump bank, and will be sending a few more marks out into the wild. I will use a different color this time-

I love those morgans. I have 2 of them(I know that's not many) that were my grandfathers. I would give up all my half dollar searching if I could get these bags! I love the silver dollar! Keep posting your finds, this has become my favorite post. Be sure to keep up the pics too!!! Thanks
Good luck on the next bags

I would guess that your 1843 is made of silver. Probably produced in the 60's The raised ridge of silver next to the bottom right stare shows that the press used was not legit.

I did the magnet test on the 1843 dollar and it stuck to the magnet, so it isn't silver.

I am still working a couple of leads on ordering big dollar coins, just need to be sure they dont order sacs or presidentials.

I have been trying to find a source as well. I Might have to go up to KC to find someplace that can do it. First I need to find someone who will buy them off of me as well. I would gladly sell them on Craigslist for $1.05 ea to a collector. That would cover my gas there and back, hell I would deliver them to him as well lol.
