Hi everyone. We joined the Orange County 49ers and went out yesterday. By the time we got set up and started classifying it was 1:30. We got 5 runs of 6 buckets of classified material. While we were there we got our biggest piece that we ever found yesterday. Is this considered good gold or is it ok. That is all of the gold we found on top of a dime. Thanks for any replies

For an area that has probably been worked very hard, that is OK gold. :)

Nice gold Alex! :icon_thumright:

Tip for ya: Next time you want to take a pic of the gold, hold
the camera at a bit of an angle, and then that big flash
spot won't be so close to the gold.

Ya did far better than my average day!

Not familiar with new management but back in the day when we,Don Hoffman, and my biz founded the OC 49rs it was a GREAT club. Unfortunately that horrendous Valley Fever(dust from drywashers) killed off the whole board as they didn't like wearing masks. Now they all wear dirt. HUGE story as even the desert prisons closing due to over 300 deaths from it. CDC site or google info, err on the side a caution. Lotza luck-John

I'd take that any day! Looks like you got a few good sized pieces Alex.

If you ask me any gold is OK!
A good club will educate!! You will Meet good people too. :icon_thumright:

You are right any gold is ok but that is way better than our best trip to the kern. It makes us happy to know that the club has good gold. :-)

You are right the puppy feet claim was hit hard. There were huge holes everywhere so you had to be careful where you stepped or you might've fallen in and got a broken bone or if you picked too far in to the dirt it could kill you from all of the dirt and rock.

Love that spotted dime! Wouldn't mind finding one of those in my change. Great gold for the amount you worked.

Yeah. If they made dimes like that i would find a way to convince my mom to get the chemicals to get the gold off. She probably wouldn't let me. :-)

Hi. Yeah out there i heard about valley fever being bad out there. Do the 3M paint sanding valved respirator mask work for drywashing.
Thanks

Alex

Alex, I don't think it's more than I get, I *know* it's
more than I get in an average trip. Ya done good.

BTW, LISTEN to what Hoser John is saying, and make
sure you and your dad wear proper protection from that
dust.

Alex, my old lungs are shot, but you're still young and need
those healthy lungs for the next 75 years or so...so wear
a proper face mask and take care of 'em!

The valved respirators are probably pretty good. Try to use the best you can get. Puppy Feet and other claims in that area have been hit hard through the years but as you obviously know there is gold if you work for it. Also there is quite a bit of petrified wood ,agate and that sort of stuff as well. A few years ago a miner was killed when the hole he was working caved in on him . Stay safe and continued good luck.

In daze of old we had a claim chairmen and a board of members who policed all the claims. Leave a hole, shame on you,do it again and adios as the liability is horrendous and who wants to hurt others and pzzzzzzzzzzzzz of the BLM???John
