You are correct Jim in Idaho. The government also uses "woman-owned company" in their purchasing lingo to grant contracts to woman-owned companies even if they are a higher bidder for a job. Thing is, a lot of them have their sugar daddies put a company in the woman's name so they can get the contracts.

True. In Idaho, the state doesn't recognize gender. But, on all the federal sites, they do. So, almost all the Fed contractors have a female own at least 50%. Of course, for a small business, since Idaho is a "community property" state, every spouse owns 50% automatically...LOL

You guys are wrong about the Government contracts.

Woman owned and minority owned companies must compete against each other to win those contracts.

If the Government decides, based on market research, that there are 2 or more companies that can do the job then there is an order in which the contracts can be competed as a "set aside" for those specific types of businesses. That means that if it is set aside for small businesses, as an example, then only small businesses are allowed to submit bids.

It is law that is required to be followed. The breakdown is as follows: 8(A) small business (small businesses that are minority or owmen owned), service disabled veteran owned, very small business, small business, and then other than small business.
