The one single speck of gold "my first" and the garnets were found in the same 200 ac. or so parcel as the quartz rocks and iron ore.

Am I hot? cold? somewhere in between?

I should show pictures of property but everybody has me paranoid of geo tag, and I guess i'm not as tech savy as I thought.

I know a lot of you have been doing this successfully and I had hoped to get your input.

Not trying to get out of doing the ground work, just trying to conserve my time.

thanks OBD

Well shoot, it says my image files are too large to attach so I'll edit this after I speak to my knowledgeable son.

Dry in the summer wet in the winter. No real flowing water on the south slope ever. A couple of wet spots in the draws from springs. During the rain the draws do move some water.

Nice pics!

Small flakes of gold (flood gold, float gold, flower gold) can travel for miles even in dry climates. I'd keep checking areas until you find more. More = closer to the source. Once you go further and stop finding gold you know the source is behind you.

But just because there is small gold doesn't mean there is bigger gold at the source. Some veins only produce small gold..

I was once given a tip from a prospector: "The best hint if your finding gold is finding it".

Crush the samples and see, or send for assay. Might be other valuables in there.
The rock below indicates there might be mineralizations around.

Thanks for the opinions, I appreciate the help.

Desertnuggets: The two larger vials one with gold one with gold covered in mercury were found in the Feather River right here in town next to the fish hatchery. The other two were found in the foothills above the lake, private property. All the rocks shown are from that property.

I'll keep searching thanks again
