Open Carry

Oklahoma "urban areas" are not really that urban. Well, I dunno about Tulsa. OKC does not scare me at all. Lawton? Fuhgeddaboudit. I have had a couple of minor issues in Lawton from soccer moms wanting to know why a grown man is in a tot lot in the middle of the day, and open carry would have prompted them to just call the cops straight away.

In my view, if where you are going to swing a coil is so dangerous you have to carry a piece, perhaps you should try for slightly less dangerous pickings.

I'm not real sure about open carry in urban areas either. However, picking a less dangerous place to detect doesn't exactly fit the mold either. I cache hunt more than anything else...I'm not picking a less dangerous location because what I'm after isn't IN a less dangerous location. LOL! Obviously that's my specific circumstance but I only mention it because there is no 'blanket statement' approach that settles the matter. So that gets back to the rural open carry being ok. I'd rather carry concealed in town though because it draws no attention!

So really I think it brings us full circle back to the concealed carry law already being 'just right' for most folks.

I don't really care if it is legal to carry out in the open. Go for it. I am still going to carry concealed. Hey Pyledriver, the first time we met, in the middle of nowhere, freezing in the woods, looking for loot, were you carrying? I figured you were. I was. You never know what kind of weirdos you are going to meet up with from the internet. :tongue3: That would have been a great place for some target practice, if I had any feeling below the wrist. This thread is from 2009 anyway, so I guess it didn't pass. :icon_scratch:

That's the beauty of a big coat! I agree that you never know what you'll run across..which means I'm carrying! If you want power with no weight, go check out the S&W 329! Not a CCW weapon but a thing of true beauty!!
