Well, our third vacation to Onslow Beach on Camp Lejeune has just come and gone. We tend to go twice a year for a week at a time. I detected a total of 10 to 15 hrs in total during our 6 night stay. My last day of detecting, my son was doing the digging for me, we struck gold. A wedding band. Then, we found a silver ring a little closer to the water-line. We were detecting during low tide and working a horizontal pattern with the water. We started where the sand sloped to the surf and went back and forth toward the water. It was interesting to see where finds were being made. I have attached pictures. This is my third vacation to Onslow Beach with the Minelab GT and S-12 coil. My first trip I found a Triton Titanium ring. Second trip I found a gold wedding band. Now this trip I found the finds you see....another gold and silver ring. I hope to keep the roll going when we go to Onlsow Beach, at least one ring! My record thus far is stable! The two quarters in the lower left are silver. One is 1943, the other I cannot see a date. Thanks, Bryan and Wade, 8.

I lived on base there for 6 years with my metal detector and was under the impression that I can not have a metal detector since I was on Federal property Not sure if this was true but I go to Lejeune to hang out with some fellow devil dogs every year or so maybe I should hit it up since I usually go to Emerald Island. Nice finds though, I expecially like the sharks teeth. I found one there on a moto run my old gunny took us on. Happy hunting. Thanks for the pics.

From what I can see, there is no problem detecting there. I always see a couple people detecting there that are locals. No problems. Good luck detecting there, Bryan

Great finds!!! Congrats! Thanks for the heads up PM. Which end of the beach were hunting on? I went on the Officer's beach a couple of weeks ago when they were some pretty good cuts in the sand and I didn't find anything except a fishing weight. We have one of the cottages reserved at the end of April. You can bet I am taking my detector.

Fantastic! A little bit of everything ! I can't wait to get back down south for some real hunting!!

Great finds!!!!

I was at the Officer's end also. I searched the area where the big cuts develop and went right behind this other detectorist who was there first. I watched the way she was swinging and figured she must have been missing alot. About half way along the cut, I found a blackened silver quarter with my eyes laying right at the base of the cut. I caught up with her, an older lady who is local who I have met before, she is a regular at the beach, and told her I found the quarter right on top where she had just been. She said her eyes aren't that good. Not to mention her swinging of the coil! Fast and not parallel with the ground. Anyway, I searched during low tide at the beachhouses just down from the big Officer beach house at the end of the beach. I worked back and forth closer toward the water with each pass. About half way toward the water, we found the gold ring. A couple of passes toward the water, we found the silver ring. I would say that during out 6 night stay, I hunted a total of 10 to 15 hours for the finds pictured, so it was not an easy task finding those rings. Good luck, and let me know if you find anything!! Bryan
