One Week of Detecting SC with My Brother - A Few Old Finds and a Slice of Hum...
Hey everyone!
My brother and I took a detecting trip to central South Carolina this week. We got to spend time with old friends and got 4 full days of detecting in at some historic sites. 1800s stores, 1700s/1800s homes, even a plantation house that Sherman was rumored to have stayed at.
We had a lot of fun. We were hoping to come back with some old coinage (LC, Seated, etc.). Unfortunately that didn’t pan out. The sites were hunted hard. However, we did find some neat old buttons and met some great people.
Our second day in town we got to hop around with Carolina Tom. That was a great time. We hit 4 different 1700/1800 permissions. We did manage some old civilian buttons and wheats.
Here are some of our overall finds from the week:
That 1962 Canadian Dime is by far the most tarnished, non-saltwater silver I’ve ever found. Really threw me for a loop when I first uncovered it.
Thanks for looking and happy hunting folks!
