One Ounce Nugget

I cast the one oz nugget shown below from some of my fines. It's my first time casting anything. I think it turned out ok but I'm going to try and cast some GNARLY Nuggets.

I'm going to try casting arrowheads, doubloons and other cool things.

I'm waiting for the lion below. It's coming from China & will take weeks but it should look great in gold! It's about 1.75"

A Lion Nugget, Mayan Brooch Nugget and a Mayan Bar Nugget. I think they will all look great in gold.

Any suggestions?

Casa how many tons of gold would it take to cast your truck?

Soon I will be melting the gold/silver that I find with my MD.

It's not hard to do. Look up sand casting or sand casting kits. Most will be green sand but you can't use green sand because it is wet (water) the steam created when pouring can cause it to explode. You have to use k-bond or petrobond. It uses oil instead of water & can take the high temps. (Its actually clay & oil)

I do the same thing as what's shown in the video but use a smaller frame and small items to cast. I use the frame that in the amazon kit above.

I'm not going to sell any of them. If for some reason I needed money and had to sell I would melt them and sell the gold.

Noting trying to take anything away from your castings, they are really cool.

I did one with silver. The pics below show how they need to be cleaned up and trimmed. The thin spikes shooting out are from where I put holes to allow air to escape as the silver is poured. The edges have to be trimmed and filed. It has to be polished. The chunk in the back is called a sprue. It's excess that needs to be cut off.

What would be the cheapest and best way to melt down my small gold? I don't have a lot and can't justify buying a expensive furnace. I have 2 grams of small raw gold I want to make into something cool. And I promise I WILL NOT MAKE a FAKE nugget to sell in eBay.

You could use a hand held MAPP gas torch or a small acetylene gas torch to melt, a hammer to flatten and then use your imagination to hammer some sort of design using chisels & other tools.
