Had one of those epic week-ends I haven't had in a while. The weather was just perfect, so I hit three areas with potential. One of them did occasionally throw at me some stone artifacts but I would rarely find more than one in any given year. Well I just multiplied it seven fold! On top of it, some of them are of the top shelve quality.

My favorite was this relic that I still haven't managed to positively ID, but it could be a highly polished slate or nephrite hide stretcher or adze.
Still can't believe it survived in a such a great condition on the plowed field. Any opinions on its use, composition and age?

Had an other amazing surprise. Found this piece that at first I believed to be a stone scrapper. Nothing exceptional but still a very cool relic...

Than, while reorganising my display case, noticed something strange...
Back in 2015 I have found my very first partial Archaic point. I still remember how excited I was back than. The stone it was made of and its sharpness reminded me of that previous piece I have mentioned.

Without much hope, I decided to verify if the two pieces fit together... And Voilà!

Couldn't believe my eyes! To find both pieces on a plowed field, five years apart.. just mind blowing! Did some repair work on it and it looks great on display.

Also, found some stone arrow points.

A possible Levanna type.

And one I haven't yet managed to ID

Three in the last week or so.

As well as a partial spear or knife of a similar material as the one I've managed to restore.

Than, as it wasn't enough, an other cool surprise, a possible fossil. Looks like a leaf patterns on both sides.Plus, on the top part of the other side, what appears to be a footprint.

Couldn't finish my day without an other Trade axe. It didn't survive as well as the much older stone tools :laughing7:

Had many more great finds this weekend on an other site. Will be making a post about them in a few days.

Thanks for the comments.

Looks to be a "shoulder Adze"shoulder adze.jpg

those points and tools are amazing. congrats on matching the two halves. A friend of mine managed to do that with a couple of pieces found a considerable distance apart on two different hunts

If those finds as a group aren’t banner worthy nothing is . The ax if archaic is beautiful. Post them in the North American native artifact section. A lot of knowledgeable people on there.

Congrats on some great finds.

We done this a few times with broken metal objects but to get this eyes only adds more luck to it - cool.

Love those pieces and the story. Congrats on some great finds.

I can't imagine the odds of the same person finding those two pieces five years apart. What's even more amazing is having the memory to mentally piece them together to see if they fit together. :notworthy:

Outstanding!!

Thanks Dave. No, you can see a different color layer going through the rock. I'm not sure how that happens but would bet it was during the rock formation.

I still find it incredible that you were able to find both pieces of the point Anton.
It's just amazing to try and imagine how many thousands of years ago these two pieces of stone were separated, only to be found and reunited years later! :occasion14:

I think that's an under par round of finds for the 8000 year old course you're swinging over. :headbang:

Sitting back and waiting for part 2....

Congrats on some great finds.

Yes, wouldn't be as surprised with the metal object, happened to me multiple times. But the stone could be under just 1mm of dust and I wouldn't see it. Really had to be in the right place at the right time.

Wicked Kool! Wish I could find stuff like that. Hogge

Congrats on some great looking points. To be able to find the two pieces five years apart, is nothing short of a miracle. I'd go buy a lotto ticket next.

Congratulations on the match up.
Top shelf hunt.

Are you kidding me? The odds of matching that point are pretty remote. Get out and buy that 6/49 for tonight’s draw!

Probably not a coincidence that it broke at the transition of those two rock layers. I would think that would create a weak point.

With the first tool instead of an Adze, could it just be a straight up axe? Attach that thing upright to a stick and it looks like it would smash someone’s head pretty effectively.

Anyways, great finds!

Thanks DigToChina. Could be an axe as well. There are many possibilities about its use. But I think by the way it was polished it was probably something to do with working with animal hides. Looks pretty fragile and light to use as some type of cutting or splitting tool.

What a great group of Indian Artifacts!!
Have you posted these on the North American Indian Artifact forum? Last time I looked I didn't see them. You might get some answers there.

Thanks Steve
Yes, I did post it there. Got some suggestions, but nothing for sure.

Congrats on the finds! The points are awesome.

Great find and saves. That was some story about finding the two pieces five years apart. This only confirms the saying that "Two halves make a whole". Congrat's on some very nice artifacts of Native American History.

Thanks devldog
