Good morning everyone and hope you are having a great start of the day.
About my hunting:
A) I do not get out as much as I like—don’t we all.
B) like filed hunts and cellar holes.
C) Like in MA so have access to Beaches (Salt) and when we go on vacation it may be down in the Caribbean so that is also a possibility.
D) shooting for coins and relics and if on the beach then GOLD

So I have a Whites V3I and as far as coils go I just got the 4x6, and I also currently own the D2.

I am looking for one more:
Detech 8x6" SEF Butterfly Search Coil (White's)
Detech 10x12" SEF Butterfly Search Coil (White's V Series)
White's 9.5" Eclipse 950 Search Coil (V3I/VX3/MXT/M6/MX5/DFX)
Detech 10x5" SEF WSS Coil (White's MXT/MX5/M6/DFX) I wish this was a V rated coil.

I know out of all the coils the 950 would be the best……so which one? Help me out and let me know if I am missing something
I am listing this on a number of forums to see if I can get a good consensus.

Thanks and Happy Hunting

I like the 6x8 SEF so far, its been a really good coil. I would like to run a 10"x12" to see whats its like though...

Just got a 10x12 its a little big for me and false s whent you barely touch a twig my 12x15sef is awesome for open fields and I also own d2, super 12 and 4x6 snipler coil a buddy of mine swears by his 8x6 sef and is his goto coil on the v3i

I really like the 6X10 elliptical on the MXT, but the 950 is good, as well.

cool thanks for the feedback, I ended up going with the 6x8 and I have to say it is perfect between the 10D2 and the 4x6DD. No on the v3i there are setting that allow you to choose a coil. Obviously this coil is not an option, do you select one close to size or just not worry about it at all.

Thanks

I don't own that machine but I put a coin down you are very familiar with is VID and try different settings. Choose the one that is closest to being accurate. Most likely the one closest to it's size.

Having a "V" rated machine means using "V" rated SEF coils. Using anything less will not give you the performance you paid for with your V3i. Aside from that , it's personal preference. My take is this: For coin and jewelry hunting (which is what I do most), a small coil with moderate depth (5"-6") is ideal - my choice is the 8"x6" SEF. The White's 4"x6" is equal in depth and separation, so you are good there. For relic hunting, I want depth and coverage. You have the White's 10"DD. So, good to go. The last coil I might consider, would be a true deep seeker (without being a two box). Included in that group would be the SEF 18"x15", the "V" series SEF 15"x12", White's MXT 15", and White's 12" concentric. This last group contains heavy weights that aren't necessarily fun to swing for long periods of time.

Best of luck in your hunting,

Dave (Dirty Money)
