Probably my best find to date...and one I am going to enter into the best finds...if I can figure out who can authenticate it, etc.

I just found this little beauty yesterday here in Ontario, Canada

It measures 1 3/8" long and 3/4" high.
Came from a site with finds dating from 1770-1815...so I am assuming it dates in that period somewhere.

British military I would imagine...

What an awesome find! I lived in Toronto for 10 years but was not into metal detecting then...damn!

VERY nice, Wess!!! Looks like you got a sweet spot! Now go find the other piece to your Buckle! ;D

thanks everyone! :) I hope to find the other half tonight as I am going back to the site. Wish me luck!

Very nice! Sure hope you find the rest of it! That would be really neat to see!

I have found a similar centre piece, you can have it for the postage cost. dugupfinds

thanks very much for the offer! I sent you a pm

That buckle is very nice, this is the first time I've ever seen one! It is very nice and I hope it has some history behind it.

Congratulations! ;D

Thanks for the heads up. The one on ebay is different, and larger. Seems that there were many varieties used...for a loooong period of time.

Might never see one identical to mine.

Thanks again

Wess

150051847397 - Look at this similar one on ebay.

LOL. The piece on ebay says "Sword belt hanger" and they are saying 1600s. Guess this guy doesn't know what he has. Who knows, maybe because he doesn't know what it is he isn't getting any good bids. I would think if it's a museum piece that a whole buckle is worth a bundle. Hope you find the other half, AND the middle piece.
