yep, think the head is furniture brass. Seen many before.

Very cool find. It's widely believed to be a curtain tie back or clothing hook...they come in all different designs. I've found scallop shell and wolf head motifs.

Yup furniture brass, found the same one about 6 years ago...

Yes, I have seen/found all types, but this is the first 'Head' I have seen. (I really like it, add to the list) They went on wood, one can assume, but would look out of place on any furniture, the clothing hook seems unlikely for these larger ended type (like the shell etc), so curtain tie back seems the most logical. However, I'm not sure anyone really knows.

If that's what it is you should be able to find a match with a head online, because they aren't really rare... and I too have dug one. In fact, I've seen the same one I dug at least twice, so they are out there. I think I actually seen one on the same database.

neat, now you can say you went out detecting and i ended up getting strange head lol

Yeah, it's fun getting out and especially getting a little head. I like it. :icon_thumleft:

cool little head, probably from a coat rack, here is one I found a while back, your piece in the other picture looks like te base from it,

Rarity has nothing to do with whether a correct ID exists, you should know that. (some of the most common things are the least studied)
