He only went & did it again ::) He found the Sceat that looks to be a Very Rare Series M, Type 45, although I can't find a match just yet, just as we were starting to head back to the car! We didn't realise until we got home & starting cleaning up, that one of the Scrappies I found was a copper-core to a Sceat :laughing7: :headbang: So that made it 2 all this year (4 in a year, but 3 in a weekend!)

38 Roman Coins
Cut Hammered of Henry III (Willem of London)

Before the 3.5 hours we had on this field, I had scouted on my own a field near my house (1.5 hours). Nothing much, other than the finds in picture 1 - 17th C Buckle, 1776 Zelandia Duit, referred to as a New York Penny;

To top it off we have broken our best years total Roman Coin (Bronze) count, which is currently at 1221 :icon_thumright: (previous record 1193)

Crazy weekend :headbang:

Can You keep it though?

Yes, single gold or silver coins are kept by the finder depending on the prior agreement with the Landowner. He has not seen the finds yet, but we show him everything & tell him the rarity & value & agree a split. Basically we will keep it, but may trade off other items, give him money or he may not be bothered. Whatever happens he will know the truth. :icon_thumright:

Well done your Dad, I think you should give this game up Cru and leave it to your Dad...you can take the pics :wink:

Cru'dad has this habit of finding very little for a long time, & then slam dunking anything I have had in awhile, just the way it goes. We are looking for a photographer, as we have little time for it, maybe your the man :thumbsup:

Nice finds Cru and Crudad. I still have to find my first Sceat. Funny how people can search for years, others find them, and I don't, but I find stuff they don't find....Ah..
Wondering if a dutch 1776 Zelandia Duit, referred to as a New York Penny, were left over in the USA, in New Amsterdam back then. How else would they get such a name. Of course the 1776 date, but New York?

To be honest, I don't have a clue, I guess it's a money making system.

Congrats on yet another rarity, and breaking records, that's fun too.

Yes, we can now start to take some risks & try new land which are not targets but are unknowns. This will mean a massive dip in finds in the coming months but may lead to a new site or prove there is nothing.

There's always something waiting Cru ..... :wink:

FURTHER UPDATE:

Turns out my copper-core Sceat is assumed to be a contemporary forgery, it is the 8th one of the K/N Series to be recorded but is the first copper-core.

So Cru'Dad & I hit a home run on that day :o

Bloody hell :o I bet that doesn't happen too often!
