Hi everybody. Thank you for all the help we’ve gotten with identifying the pieces we have found. A little backstory, my son and I have been exploring the mountains of Washington State looking for evidence of the original pioneers. We have found a site that has given up some incredible artifacts, including an ink well, eyeglasses, boots, tools, and even a fishing reel that could be 150 years old! We have made a series of videos to document this site, and with the hope of getting some help identifying some of these incredible artifacts, plus just to share the moment. There is no advertising, we have no monetary interest, and we are simply posting it to spread the joy of metal detecting and the beauty of our natural environment. Please take a look, and if you can offer any help, we would greatly appreciate that. Here’s part one and two.

in Washington state if in the mountains as you indicate, you are looking for logging camps and old mining claims. Your fishing reel is not that old. If you want to find evidence of actual pioneers, you need to get to coastal areas or up river on navigable waterways. The early folk were heavily reliant on water transportation.
