Vino took me up on his challenge to keep his heater going by inviting me to one of his honey holes downtown. After an hour of so of pulling clad, I got on the board with a small button. Half hour later, I decided to dig an iffy signal, 6 inches deep, under a root. Out popped this beauty, the oldest coin I have ever found, a King George I, dated 1721! The obverse was plain as day, the reverse took some tooth picking, but it turned out beautiful. I love the off center strike, it adds character.

Believe it or not, Vino is extremely modest. He had several awesome finds too, which he said he wasn't going to post, but I am calling him out. Post your finds Vino. They are spectacular as well.

After leaving this site, Vino took me to a spot closer to home. I hunted for another hour or so alone, as Vino had to run home to cut the grass. I bet he wished he had stayed after I pulled these both out of the same hole:

An 1895 O Barber half! The second item is The King's Medal which is missing the loop, circa 1910, given to school children in London for perfect attendance in a school year. The back says: Awarded London County Council for Attendance Conduct and Industry During the Year. It is inscribed E. COHEN on the rim. Your turn Vino.

George may take you to a site, but "YOU" still need to be a seasoned MDer to pull those sweet coins. Congrats on pulling those amazing coins and medal. :occasion14:

Nice looking KG I. I find that the raised rim helps protect the date from wear because a lot of them are found with readable dates. I like your perfect attendance medal as well. I already saw George's finds. He did well. I'm sure he'll post.

That's an amazing kg for its age, sometimes that philly soil isn't so kind to coppers, you got a nice one there!, congrats on the silver and medal too!

Fantastic hunting Sleuth.
Like LD, said its about knowing what to dig. And you have the Gift My Friend!
Im glad I was able to witness it coming out..
As far as the other spot. Nah, you can keep that modern stuff. Lol.
Congrats on your oldest coin..
Just goes to show, no place is ever hunted out!!!

Triple header day, congrats on the three awesome looking pieces.

Any chance to research E. Cohen? ....That medal is great!..as are the other coins

Great finds man! Congrats! George def knows his spot and does the research like loco said u gotta be a seasoned guy like him and itself to pull those!

Nice hunt. Having been to that site, I laughed when I read George's comment that you didn't want to go. It has been hunted by George many times, with many people, and yet you still managed some great finds. Congrats.

Just goes to show when you have a place thats been continued occupied for 300 hundred years God knows how much stuff is still left there, we can just not find yet?
And I bet the place has been Night Hunted also for years???

By dishonest scumbags who don't get permission like you do, that stuff really gets me mad

Great day for coins you had there. My fav is the 1721 copper. We almost never find that variety down this way, and the condition of yours is superb. I'm surprised George let you find that one :laughing7:.

There are some great free researchers on here & I would try & return it to the family. They would be thrilled.

Absolutely great finds- Congrats!!

I will certainly try. I think Cohen is the engraver, not the recipient though
