hi all I was walking in a canyon in the mountains behind Santa Barbara and came across these carvings.
they were next to a boulder that was a darker color than all the surrounding area. and when I say boulder I mean 4 stories tall or more.
so I was hoping you guys could let me know what you think of them.
thanks. and happy new years all.

you might want to add a closer picture or add another picture to your post and try to remark what kind a lines or picture do you see at it, because can't really tell or see.

OK so I drew in what I see and then adjusted the focuse on the marks.
so I have no clue about treasure symbols. but I do know about the slow growth of the local oak trees. I would say the carvings are over 100 years old. thanks and sorry if the pictures are still too small, my computer is out of commission and I am stuck using my droid. so if it helps any one to see the pictures better I don't mind if you download them to look in your photo viewer to expand them.

seems to be very interesting but those marks are unknown to me, i will recommend you to use a pulse induction metal detector around that specific tree and look around the are for more trees or rocks with more signs, but a 2 box metal detector will work better on a high mineral soils or trashy soils that a pulse induction, i tell you because me and my partner own a minelab 5000 and a 2 box, from fisher. i own a 2 box but you need some one with very good experience because they are very good machines but like every machine out there you need the complement with some one who knows how to use it.
i have very specific information of where the Camino real or Royals kings road use to be in california. if u need me to find out if it was there i will but most likely camino real used to pass by santa barbara. good luck and if find more info i will let u know.
there is a user on face book called japanese signs & Symbols, and it has many many different treasure symbols and signs.
the one u have like a sideward V might means near here,
