the pictures of the tool are dark, hard to make out any defining characteristics of the tool, also could you put up a picture of the back part on tool.It makes me think of a tire repair tool for punctures just can't tell.

My guess would be a needle for thick leather sewing, but no expert.

I believe it's a type of sewing awl (leather, heavy material, etc), however I haven't been able to find one with dual ends such as this one.

I found it in my attic with many other items from about 1909 through 1931 as far as I can tell so far. If that helps.

I'm guessing that thread was loaded thru the tube, from the handle to the pointed tip ?
Is the tube hollow from one end to the other?

Interesting tool.
I found no match in a brief search.
The one end having a lug on it hinted of a bobbin holder ,but no wear from it riding on the handle.
The diameter looks bigger than most sewing awls and makes me think of a burlap bag closer.
Most awls for sewing have one hole through them , so why two?
Dog food bags have a pull strip where one string gets pulled out of the other...I don't know how the stitching goes...

One picture showed a burlap stitcher with a rod through handle that looked a little like a Yankee screwdriver.
To use the o.p.' s tool like an awl would not work well with the rod sticking out of the handle on the palm side.
???????

Ice pick...definitely a murder weapon. As long as your prints are not all over it you should be fine. If not then lets work on that alibi. :)

Looks like the thing they used to give me booster shots with when I was a kid.
Then the other kids would punch me in the arm.

Looks like one of those things to inject preservatives into meat, probably had a hose on the back end . Or maybe even for embalming.
