I’ve hit this property two or three times first time found a barber half dollar and two large cents 1843 and 1828 yesterday I was going to do another property (Woods) then no sooner upon arriving nature called lol afterwards I was right near this property and decided to hit it again and lucky I did I spent a lot of time talking to passerby’s one of whom is another property owner who gave me permission . Then I said time to get serious and dug this beauty that surprised the hell out of me 0E506791-B985-4E93-ADB3-043091A684B1.jpegB5A69A2A-28BD-4400-9CF8-55ABF01E6C72.jpeg98A17012-621B-431C-AB1A-BEC6E2A4D810.png then found a hem weight and half skeleton keyC43A3A72-EC96-4813-82B8-DDA7D3EAFB9F.jpegC43A3A72-EC96-4813-82B8-DDA7D3EAFB9F.jpeg above the eagle it reads EXCELSIOR sorry about the blurry pic my lens must have dirt on it I’ll post a better pic after it’s cleaned up

Awesome finds! Congrats!

No it’s made of copper I believe and plated with silver it says L&T on the back the other side of the back needs some corrosion removed will post a better pic when cleaned better I’m sorry you meant the hem weight it’s made of lead supposedly woman during colonial times would use them on their dresses so they wouldn’t blow up also used for other things I presume

That button is beautiful. Great detail on that one. Congrats and thanks for sharing.

They were or are used in the bottom hems of curtains to keep them from blowing also.

That button is beautiful. Never seen one like that before. I found a belt buckle that has Excelsior on it and a similar depiction of an eagle standing on a globe. ID'd as a similar time range (1830s NYS militia)

Congrats!!
