Managed to get out a couple days ago on a site that I hit with BBoy back in January when he was visiting. He gave me a good skunkin on this site, digging his first Capped Bust. Well I've been itching to get back over there and hunt the place. As soon as I started swinging ,I realized what it was about the site that p'd me off...dang ole electric fence making my detector go cuckoo for cocoa puffs. I kept swinging, trying to swing before each pulse and it just about drove me crazy. :BangHead:.
I started finding some buttons and lead balls. Later on I noticed what looked like a colonial clay pipe bowl on the surface, I picked it up and was surprised to see it was a pipe bowl. First one for me .
Later on I dug what I believe to be a piece to a shoe buckle, upper right, top in group shot. A 4 hole converted button, matching pair of floral flat buttons, 2 hole saddle piece.
The last pic is a button that looks old to me, the design on the face and the shank looks different from any other flat button I have dug. It was so crusty I hit it with a soft brass brush and then the pattern came out. Cool button, I like it.

You be good,

HB

The next time you go out give me a call and I will go with you. I will hold your detector while you dig! That's all my messed up back will let me do anymore. I will even buy your lunch and you can biggie size it if you would like!

Classic! After you said that, HB will order a Steak. :D

Great finds HB! Last year I found a big button like that with 2 holes and mine ended up being a King George worn smooth and converted to a button. Yours looks too thin to be a coin and you probably already checked. Good saves!

That is a fine pile of buttons
Very nice handmade key, love stuff like that.
Maybe a piece of gun furniture above the key? :icon_scratch:
Great pix and Finds! Congrats & HH

Herbie, I believe the piece above the key is part of a pair of scissors.
Thanks for your reply.

Thanks WH, yes I've looked that button over, I thought the same thing when it was dug.
Didn't realize it had all the holes till I got home and cleaned it. When dug I thought it was a copper but it rang up to low for that, rang up as brass. I'm sure a copper awaits.

I've never found a pair of matching buttons (at least w/ design) from the same site :o Those are nice, early ones too :icon_thumleft:
did reel in a couple lined "I" buttons from one spot but that was it

Nice assortment of finds HB. And congrats on your colonial pipe bowl. By the way, one of my best sites had a dadgum electric fence that was driving my F75 crazy, but we found where the battery was that was powering it and started disconnecting it while hunting. You might try looking for that, but make sure you don't forget to hook it back up before you leave.
