old sheet brass buckle

Found this last weekend, and it looks like similar sheet brass buckles from Civil War era but the soldered on attachments on the reverse aren't quite right. No marks, size is 1 7/8 x 2 3/8 inches or 47 mm x 60 mm. Probably civilian but looks very old. Anyone know specifics on hook attachments in dating this one? Much Thanks...vn

Villagenut I am not great with buckles but sure looks to have a puppy pawl clasp . Someone will let you know, interesting find.vanzutphen

Looks like 1/2 of a sash buckle to me..

What I don't know is the hook type. The buckle itself looks like Confederate stamped brass belt plates. They are the only thing close that I find on the net. Where this was found, there were several CW vets living after the war. That's what made me curious, but the attachment hook; I think, may disprove or prove that notion.
