Mom got permission to hunt this old school house, just down the road from her house.
It sure looked promising. I had fantasies of us being the first detectorist to ever swing a coil there.
Well, you probably allready guessed that that was just a fantasy, because we weren't the first.

The grass was a little tall for most of the property, only leaving small areas to get your coil close to the ground.
We hunted for about an hour, and by this point we were both getting tired of the "getting up".
The "getting down" was easy. ;D

Mom found a small button and a large caliber bullet. The only keeper for me was one button. We didn't find any coins and the only rings were the "pull-tab" type, but we had a good time.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a dozer skim off all the sod and a few inches of dirt. Bet you would clean-up then! That is definitely an interesting looking building. I am with plehbah on this one, there are rarely any old school sites that are loaded. When detectors first came out, I think most everyone started at these places.

I remember something I saw in W&E a few years back. Someone said when weeds or grass were high he took along a half sheet of plywood and laid it down to flatten the weeds( just detected right over the top until he got a good hit). I don't know it that'd work for your site, but it might be worth a try.

Man!! That does look good! Check by those steps! Check against the walls... ever flipped coins? Man that sure does look like a good spot! I wanna go there.... now! :blob8:

The real treasure there is what's left of that building. I'd love to be able to drive by that on a regular basis. I love old run down structures. Something about old buildings really intrigues me, and I don't think it is because I am thinking about what might be in the ground around it. I just love the look of an old structure like this.
