Greetings from CA…hot, hot, hot. :P There is an old railroad tracks here in my city, behind a department store. Over grown with trees brush and everything else, I think the city forgotten about it. I didn't know till I walked my dog by there this morning.

So, when I got home.... grabbed my machine and off I went; Heat or no heat. It is a fairly shaded area. I followed a broken hole-path in and noticed that people have been here.... of course!!!!! Trash flew into my mind and my heart sank. :'(

Then I noticed some old wood, flat form like, steps? And started crouching towards it, with my machine armed. I laid my MD down to feel the wood and a signal rang out. I thought it was just hitting the ground, that did it, but sure enough, it was a true signal and started digging. I about rolled over when I saw a Mercury dime starring at me!!!!! 1941. :o

For the next 15-20 min I searched that entire area on my stomach sometime. And came up with nothing more but.....a few trash items and beer caps!!! Even in the shade I was sweating like I was trapped in a sauna. I had to make my way out the other side (30Ft) And... just when I was about to clear that thick area, another signal by accident. ::)
I dug that up and an old hand held can opener came up. Haven't seen one of those since the 70s.How cool. I thought. ;D

That's it...I said to meself. Looked at the rest of the tracks as the sun was coming down hard. I told myself I will have to come back when it's cooler. Made my way back to the opening on my hands and knees now.... I am not use to hunting in a small confined area like this with bugs I don't know about, and.... yep… another signal!!!! Dreaming it was another Mercury, I dug, and dug, and dug…. two Roosevelt dimes,1961d and 1962d came up.

O.K!!!!!!! Now I'm really excited but, out of water and needed to split. I'm going to return in the morning when it is a lot cooler. I'm going to search every inch of that area. I think I really found an old unsearch old rail area dead in the middle of a major city. :o Cleaned them with a little mild soap, water and a soft toothbrush.

Thanks for looking and Happy hunting.Oh...and a 1942 Canadian cent!!!Will take picture of area tommorrow
