This is one of a few coins I have found over the years. I think it is called a seated liberty quarter. I found it while helping a friend tear out an old set of steps at the entry of his house. I asked my dad what it might be worth, and he told me a quarter. Dad isn't much of a comedian. Seriously though, would it be worth more than the silver it's made from?

Thanks.

Thanks Pbk,

what do you think, about good? Probably not much better than that. Oh well, it made my day.

Check North American Coins and Prices 2006 book. I got it and it tells u the prices of every coin in U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Years go back to the 1600's. :) Thought it might be some help to ya.

what makes you think thats old. just kidding, nice find. keep it up

A coin shop would give you $6-$12 for it ,maybe a little more with the price of silver being up.....Keep it ,its a nice find with a story behind it....Give it to a GrandChild ,,,,when you have one.....Nice find......Yeah.........
..................................That is old.....N-I-C-E.... ;D

freak do you read the posts or just respond..this is what he said..
"I found it while helping a friend tear out an old set of steps at the entry of his house."
no digging involved.....

There was no digging involved. Sorry if I somehow gave that impression. I started reading the posts on this site a couple of months ago. I have found everything very interesting! I honestly don't even have a md'er. I have been trying to do some research as to what kind to buy if I were to get one. As for the quarter, when we moved the steps away from the house, there was all kinds of junk wedged between the house and steps. This was the only thing I found that I thought was worth keeping.

Thanks for all the responses!!!

$10-12, About Good
$18-20, Good.
The coin has full rims on both sides. It grades Good (G4). Excellent find.

PS-The obverse rims look a little weak, though, so it's a low-end G4 in my book. Close to AG3, but I personally would say it makes the G4 grade, if only barely.
