old plated spoon with a maker's mark I can't find

Here's a plated spoon with a maker's mark I can't find. It appears to be a crown with the words Saint Paul over and under. It has what might be an initial and unsuccessful stamping on one end, or what? Anybody seen this before? IMG_1410 CROP.jpgIMG_1407 CROP.jpg

I believe it says Patd, not Paul. It looks like the name of the saint was stamped over.

That is an interesting idea and on the right track. I just put it under the super high resolution camera at work and the wording is Saint Paul, but the crown theory might not work. Saint and Paul are over and under a bow tie shape. The line of triangle-like shapes appears to be stamped over it to obliterate that maker's mark. I've been googling plated flatware made in St Paul and things like that without much success. Maybe the mark was stamped over and Saint Paul ( a local church or something) is stamped on it as the owner. I don't have much experience with silverware.
