Welcome Serous!

Thanks for posting this! I've never been there but I think the tomb theory is really likely. I've read that tombs of important people and great leaders were often situated in natural landmarks like this. If so, there might be others there about. I'm interested in the Gutians and would like to find some info on them.

Best wishes and good luck!

I appreciate your comments. :occasion14:
This state (Khuzestan) was used to accommodate the Elamites, and later the Achaemenids and Sassanids. Do you think is a tomb? Is there a treasure below that? If yes, how can I find it?

Meanwhile, the land of old Gutians is in the north of this area (about 300 km).

Buy a remote controlled toy car and a GoPro camera, mount camera on car and investigate the hole.

Maybe from there you will discover the wisdom of great Kings and better yet a treasure.

Thank you

Unfortunately, the hole is blocked and large rocks are around the hole.
Most likely, there is a dangerous trap there.
Maybe like a trap in the picture below.

Thanks Sirous for the info on the Gutians. They've been a personal interest to me for quite some time. I understand they've just recently found a settlement that they believe was there's.

Back of the boat's got a good plan! You might also survey the area, from above, with a drone. Likely as not, if this was setting open, the grave was looted. This could also be a air vent for another chamber below. Are there any local legends referring to this landmark. What do the locals call it? What can you learn from the glyphs above the hole? Have you checked around with a metal detector? Perhaps you could try dowsing. It works well here but I don't know about an arid climate. If you found water it might be treasure enough!

I can only imagine the personal risk of investigating sites like this on your own, Best wishes and go safe!

Perhaps this hole only held an ossuary. The body was allowed to desiccate and the natural bacteria and predators removed the flesh. The bones were then placed in a carved stone box with lid and sealed. This hole looks like about the right size.

First off... welcome to Tnet from Canada! :hello:
This looks like a cave that someone has carved into a rock face.

I'm thinking this sounds very similar to Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves from Arabian Nights tales.

"One day, Ali Baba is at work collecting and cutting firewood in the forest, when he happens to overhear a group of 40 thieves visiting their stored treasure. Their treasure is in a cave, the mouth of which is sealed by a huge rock. It opens on the magic words "open sesame" and seals itself on the words "close sesame". When the thieves are gone, Ali Baba enters the cave himself and takes a single bag of gold coins home."
