old pistol relic !

I found this in the dirt floor of an old barn that was in the process of being torn down . I found the round bullet chamber first , so scraped around with a rake and found the gun body . It's a Robbinhood # 8 1/2 - Patented 1875 . I can't find any manufacturers mark . Any ideas ?

The only info I've seen published on these is in the out of print book "Suicide Specials? by Donald B. Webster, Jr.?? There it indicates that these were made by the Hood Fire Arms Co., a Norwich, Conn., firm established about 1870.? The principal, F.W. Hood, also was involved with Continental Arms Co., Norwich Arms, and Bacon Manufacturing.?"
