Already solved :D Actually, I am wondering if anyone has seen something like this. I found it in a flea market long ago in Arkansas. Maybe gave a buck for it.
The little gold flakes packed inside look like gold but who knows. The chain seems as delicate as a spider web strand.

When I was a kid I had an old aunt that still dressed Victorian. She wore a necklace with a long chain?

Amd yes... gold flakes... The chain is a mass produced "S" link.

Good work Prince!

I've seen items similar to this that are souvenirs from those places where you buy a bucket of dirt and pan it out in their sluice.

Best wishes and good luck!

That would be cool. The Victorian era jewelry is apparently popular with collector's. I didn't know there are three eras within that era. Those people sure knew how to dress:)

Probably could make money just cause it is a little unique. Just a pinch of gold-too bad it wasn't an ounce lol.

You can buy empty glass baubles like that and fill with your own gold I bought one for my wife once.

Knotts Berry Farm here in SoCal had a trough of seeded dirt that you could pan for a price. No black sand and light dirt so easy panning. My dad had us panning Holcomb Creek before we were 5 so us kids knew about "Pockets" You could dip your own pan or have them fill it for you. We of course went to the areas where the water turned the corners as it ran through and got a good shape of the bottom. We loaded up! They had to give us all of our fines. They didn't like it.

Those grains of gold and a possible gold ring my old man found are all the gold I have.
I think it would look great on a lady. Simple and elegant.

Does it have weight? I never seen one and I like it. Would someone sell anything real gold for a $1? I hope it it, but still cool idea.

Does have weight now that you mention it. That particular flea market was owned by a guy who had tons of stuff, bought whole estates, went to auctions.
He already had more money than he knew what to do with and did not spend a lot of time sorting stuff.
My brother and I would shoot the breeze with him.
He had a few items that were high because they were rather rare or popular. He knew what his big ticket items were worth.
The diameter is less than a dime so not a huge lot of gold really.
