Started the day out early this morn as the sun came up trying to stay ahead of the wet weather headed our way and had only detected about 30 minutes where an old barn stood years ago on this 1820's homestead, when silver shined on me! 1892 Barber dime in slightly beaten condition-but silver is silver, right! Ran patterns all around it and found the ford emblem boldly standing out on the cap of some sort. Proceeding to the fence for the cattle I found a bullet,, rivets and padlock. Then out to the field freshly plowed and found the butt plate of a rifle and then the axe head at 10". Then the rain started coming down and I headed to the trees behind the house on the edge of the field and boom- my detector screamed and 2 inches down in some old black soil pops a belt buckle from days gone by. No doubt some kid playing cowboys and indians. By then the rains were coming down too hard to chance frying my detector and I went home. Good day's hunt for three hours....and finally the property gave up some old silver!

The axe head is interesting in that I recently found one just like it. One side has the various angles on it which I'd never seen before. I'm going to do some research to find out more about it.
