FIRST POST>>> FIRST WORDS I TYPED ! ! !

"This is called a "divided" plate...

Blue Willow..."

Incredible.

Listen I know you are new here...

You don't know my "MO"...

I am not one for the "history lesson"... OR to complete the OP's quest for full knowledge... THAT IS UP TO THEM...
I have NOT the time NOR the desire to do someone else's work FOR them.

I merely point the direction(s).

I laid the foundation.... it is up to the OP to build upon that.
I am not getting paid to research and compile the exact data required to definitively / accurately deduce EXACTLY what a person has posted.

BLUE WILLOW ! ! !

Yes, I know. It's the fantasy design properly called "willow pattern" and borrowed from Minton's original design as I originally said. It always comes in blue, but not always in "flow blue".

You seem to want to pick a fight (I do not)… but this is somewhat disingenuous of you. What you actually said was:

"Blue Willow... Moriyama Flow Blue"

I merely pointed out (politely, I thought) that it isn't likely to be Moriyama if it's not marked, doesn't fit the characteristics for flow blue glaze and then provided some history on your correct identification of willow pattern. I don't see why that's such a big deal. All the forums I've participated in thrive on sharing information that leads to accurate identification. I thought this one did too.

Red coat... I commend you for filling in the blanks for the OP.

This is fine... many do it.

IF in the mood I also do it... but mostly I just do a "one liner"... a "general" thing.

Then other elaborate if they want.

Some users like Antiquarian go farther in depth... like yourself... which is very cool... and I am sure others here... including myself... appreciate.

But for me..

There are not enough hours in the day to do this on everything.

IF I did this on all "what is its"... I would spend my entire day working for others with rarely a thank you.

This... is not my idea of "fun" or "necessary".

BEINGS...

Most of the time... people who have asked for help on an ID... have not even TRIED to ID it for themselves.

And I personally am not keen on helping those who don't even try to help themselves first.

BEINGS...

WE ARE ON...

THE INTERNET.

heh

PS...

I know Google is REALLY HARD to type searches in for some... AND MIGHT even be like "work".

:P

Thanks... feathers now unruffled hopefully.

As for Google... it can be your friend or your enemy, depending on how much background knowledge you already have. I sympathise with those who have at least tried Googling but don't know if they can trust what they've found. Particularly since Google images often leads you to eBay, Pinterest, Etsy and pickclick listings of undetermined expertise.

Agreed.

I always say.. "just because someone wrote it... doesn't make it so".

I find all the time... throughout my time... so may things written... are in fact... opinions written in context of "facts".

History books included.

So many members here have vast knowledge and unique backgrounds. Some just enjoy doing other's grunt work. As AARC says, there are some here, who intentionally let others burn time, looking up their new purchase, that will be listed within the day. Why do the work, if you can get others, for free, to do it. At the same time, some members enjoy the search, are aware they're being used, but are happy to do it.
Some long-time posters have unquestioned knowledge, and will perform I.D.'s reportedly off the top of their heads, their input appreciated. Then give the attitude like the underappreciated Mother, haranguing their children about all she does for them when she is so busy with more important things. That part is hard to take. So, thanks to all who take part in the subtle, easy going participation in I.D.ing stuff. Non earth shaking stuff.

Agreed... and well said.
