Hello all,,,
Got out to the ol' cache site today for a few hours. Didn't have a whole lot of luck, but I did find one interesting item. It looks to be an old Hat-pin, I would guess ??? It's about 9" long and was guiled with gold. It was sticking in the groung with the pointed end facing downward, as if someone stuck it in there... The little ball on the end was about 4" down and was giving the Cz a penny signal..

Also found my 7th wheaty for the year, a 1956D. The weather was great, a little windy, but not too bad...
Hope ya all had some luck, & Happy hunting~

That is the Biggest Hat Pin I have ever Seen !!!!! What the heck did they do with that thing....I don't want to know.....Great Find anyway..... :D

That would anchor a hat down for sure. Nice find I wonder what the story is behind that pin Burdie

Neat O Leon!

Glad that thing was pointing down! That could have hurt! :P

:o

Leon,

real nice item there. 9 inches seems awful long for a hat pin, the ones
I have seen have only been 2 - 2 1/2 inches long. Have to think on this one.

Item really has a nice "ball" on the end, (wonder what that part is really called?)

Nice find.

have a good un..............

Pretty cool and unique pin you got there Leon.

Thanks all,,,
After doing a little google'ing, I found out that it's not uncommon for them to be so long. I found several that were over 10" inches in length... Also found out there are a lot of different designs... It's like looking for a needle in a hay stack.

Sherman, I didn't find any info on what they actually call the ball on the top. As far as I can tell, they simply call it a ball...

Good luck, & Happy hunting~

Thanks again guys..
That's prettty cool about Grandmother Day Dreamer, I don't think I've ever seen anyone use one, other than in the movies... ;D, cool deal...
Good luck, & Happy hunting~
