Hello T net masters: I found this piece today and I believe it to be a trigger to a gun. Can anyone confirm or deny it? An idea of what type of gun would be great. You can see it’s got a patina so it’s pretty old. The area next to the hole has been broken off so it probably originally extended further. Any info or thoughts would be helpful thanks!

Could very well be a trigger.Might be a pawl off some kind of winch or gearbox.

Given the size and shape, my guess is the handle from a latch of some sort.

I think it is part to a latch like a window latch. A trigger would probably not widen out where the finger would be I think they are pretty much the same size. Like if cut from flat stock.

I don't think your item's geometry will allow it to act as a trigger; the pivot point (fulcrum) is not aligned with the force point so it fails as a lever. Try holding it between your fingers at the pivot point and pull as if it is a trigger. I doubt it will move far, if at all. I expect a rotational force will be required to move it and that's not practical for a trigger. Not as I have seen, anyway.

The force was applied to the other end (broken) of your item so it's more like a piece from a trigger toggle clip or something similar.

Agree. Possibly a casement window latch.

I don’t think it’s a gun part. Internals were made of iron or steel for strength and durability and it doesn’t look ornamental. Still cool
