Found this at a old 1700s colonial homesite out in the woods.. Its got markings and its is little, I been told it could be part of a earring.. Anyone have info??

We have already established it as an earring and it is most definitely not a brooch.Either a part of earing or brooche
I imagine that is where the earing center/stone attached? or whatever was the center of attention for this piece.I have no way to test it for gold right now, but it seen like there was something else that might of broken off?? Can see it at the end where its gapped..

Having seen literally thousands of these over the decades (my wife sells jewelry, old and new) I can say without a doubt this is what it is and that it isn't older than 20th century.Emil W nailed it. It's a modern earring, the clasp style is quite common on modern hoop earrings.
The slot is where the earring shaft swivels so it can be inserted into the ear piercing. The hole on the other end is where the shaft is captured.
