Can anybody help me ID and date these small porcelain dolls of my Grandmothers before I put them on eBay? These are beautiful, intricate hand painted pieces. I believe they are late 1800's and may have considerable value but how much? Breezie can you help? I didnt have my best camera for bottom closeups. All I can read is the crown, N, Dresden and Germany on the pink dolls and the bottom pic is the only blue doll. What are those red spots? Thanks.

Re: Old German Dolls

Omg , please be extremely careful mailing those. I can't stress enough how very very fragile those are.Just picking them up the wrong way can be a fatal blow! :nono: I learned the hard way :'(

Re: Old German Dolls

Hi bigcypresshunter :)

Unfortunately they do not seem to be very old, nor very valuable either ! :dontknow:
The mark is from the factory: Porzellanfabrik Sandizell Höffner & Co and from the period 1951 - 1960
Look here: (Scroll down to about middle)
http://sammler.com/porzellanmarken/...=&symbol_17=&symbol_18=&symbol_19=&symbol_20=

Looking on some german sites it seems they are selling from 20 - 60 Euros.
Very important for collectors would be that there is NO porcelain broken off anywhere on them.

I think I´d keep em, if I were you. Almost impossible to mail without damaging them ! :'(

if you do sell or mail them be sure and get plenty insurance...

Wouldn´t be a good deal by that possible quite low price, I think !! :dontknow:
Insurance would most likely be more expensive than the profit by selling them ! :'(

LOL you guys. ;D Forget about the other 3. Im telling my sister to sell them at the yard sale or off to the auction with everything else. Im concerned now about this last unidentified doll. Its in great shape and if it has value, I believe I can pack it in peanuts or shredded paper. I need to ID it.

The mark is faded and a bit blurry so Ill try to draw it on paper. Its hard to see. The logo has an S in the center.

Re: Old German Dolls

I didnt read it yet but it appears its not old at all. :(

My Mom and grandmother used to buy this stuff (junk) at antique shops in the 50's and 60's. IMO antique shops are the LAST place to find a bargain. Unfortunately they really didnt know anything about antiques.
But I need to check it all out. There may be a hidden piece in the mix.

Thanks. More to post later.
