Metal Detecting
Hi everyone,
I went out earlier today detecting in the woods that run next to an old early 1900s orange grove. My second target was this ring that rang up an 84 on the Deus 2. It’s smaller than normal and seems to be missing something that might have been on the front. I believe it’s brass and has an eagle on each side. Would this be military? Thank you for looking and have a nice day.

Thank you jewelerguy. I feel like an idiot for not pinpointing the hole before I covered it. I only ran the detector over the area a bit after I realized it was missing the soldered piece. I will definitely go back to where I dug it and recheck the hole. I agree with you, it’s probably somewhere in that vicinity.
Since there is the possibility of a stone being the missing piece you may want to try sifting. Can you relocate the same spot, or fairly close?

Nice ring, I would do acid test for silver as it has a look like it might be, that being said, the numbers on your machine might read lower than silver simply because the band is cut.. which would make it read lower.
Don't know anything about age or who might have worn it, but certainly looks old..

U.S. Philippines ring missing the top... or version that had no top added and was mono'd.
AKA - "Pacific theater" ring.
