The weather was beautiful, today, so decided to drive up to, what used to be, an old dance pavillion back in the 30's and 40's. The story is that people would bring their own bottles and the drunks wiould hang out in the parking lot and drink. That was evidenced by the amount of screw on wine bottle caps buried in the ground around the pavillion.
Despite all of the junk, I managed to dig up the coins shown in the picture; 1942 walking liberty half, no-date standing lib. quarter, 1909 Barber quarter, 1943 Washington quarter, 1947 Roosevelt dime, 1940D Lincoln, and a 1902 Liberty head nickel. I'll go back, sometime, to see what I missed.

Sweet silver! This spot definitely deserves another trip. Keep digging and posting those great finds.

Sweet finds! There's a old dance hall that is still in operation not too far from me. Same old wooden building with wooden floors that opened in the early 30's. "Moonlight Inn" was used in the recent movie Dukes of Hazzard. Man, I would give anything to detect there and to check under the building for old bottles.

Great finds! It's always a good idea to listen to old stories, sometimes they pay off.

outstanding finds! :o without giving too much away, what does the site look like now? is it wooded, overgrown, still builings standing, ect. just curious. i would love to hear the story of how you found this spot and this stuff.

ditto ditto ditto

I didn't count them but there were a lot of screw on type caps that must have come from wine bottles or something.
Some of them registered " 50c" and sounded like a large coin and were quite deep. I neglected to say that the Walking liberty half read 7" deep on my screen and one of the quarters at 8". The dime was, probably, 6", at the least. I'll have to get back there, soon.

That was an awesome hunt, congrats on the nice silver! HH, Mike
