Cannot figure out what kind of coin this is. It's about 30 mm in diameter and about as thick as a quarter. Has two symbols on front and back is super dirty. Has the square hole. Would like to clean but wanted to make sure it wasn't worth anything in case I destroy it. Thanks everyone

Can't figure it out

Looks like it could be an old Chinese kuo copper. What about the back? They usually have a dragon on the back.

I found this one in an area where Chinese migrant workers logged in the US in the late 19th c.:

I'll have to look on mine. So far I only see two symbols on front and back is too dirty to tell. I'll clean it a little and get back with you. I'm assuming since most of the coins from that period were mass produced mine isn't worth but a few bucks if that

My guess: CHINA EMPIRE 10 CASH TAI-CHING-TI-KUO 1902-05 HUPEH PROVINCE
Similar to the one shown here:

I'm thinking that's what mine is. I cleaned it a little and can start to see something on the back and front appears to have 4 symbols. Good call everyone

Yeah, I don't think it's going to be worth much of anything in that condition beyond the sentimental value. Same with mine. Its sentimental and historical value is worth a lot to me because it was further evidence that the Chinese did in fact log the area that I hunted. I even came across a picture with some of the Chinese loggers in that area. To look at that old photo and think that one of the guys in it could have been the one that dropped it... well, that is pretty damn cool.
