And they are probably not talking about obvious cheap China fakes. But I agree, a doctor isn't going to give a diagnosis over the phone, and neither would an expert in any other field. It's common sense.

Im not very good at all with ancients but the pictures posted just scream replica. Every one of the coins are identical in color as if they were made at the same time and sold as a set. I see no patina whatsoever and I believe they are even representing dissimilar metals. (some silver, some bronze). There are many replicas on the market and I am not searching for this particular set for positive ID.

I agree with IP and Cru completely but I see nothing wrong with posting another picture for those members that may have doubts...

DG please go outside in daylight and take another pic with true color. All we have to work with here is your picture and what you tell us. Thanks. :icon_thumright:

BTW DG where and when did you obtain these? Did it come as a set? Is this picture true color?

The square coin looks interesting, but my aging eyesight isn't good enough to read Bramblefinds attachment :laughing7:. Could you enlarge it and post again mate. Also, if it's a coin AND a fake, is it a cake :tongue3:. I'm definitely no expert so I'm keeping my head down

I agree.
I also believe that fake or not, many would like to know the ID of the coin NWS; and I enjoy the learning that goes with doing the research and reading the comments of others. So to quickly accept a novice's opinion that the coin is fake is, perhaps, eliminating the learning opportunity others might enjoy.
Don.....

Tnet is about novices opinions. My opinion is exactly the same as IP. If you want to spend your time IDing what these are copying, you are welcome to do so. In the same way that I'm welcome to make a judgement call.

'Anyone have any idea as to what these are' - the orginators question has been answered. Maybe ask him/her if they want you to ID these copies?

Spot on!!! :thumbsup:I have no idea wht they replicate but they do!And I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night! :laughing7:

I never said once they were real. My point all a long is you don't make judgments from pictures.
