Old coin what kind and a date?

One of my buddys found this coin hunting a civil war camp today. Has a name scratched into it. Any Idea on a date?

Very Cool the head looks a little different on the top one. Akin Miller is the name on this coin. Another picture to give you a Idea on the size of it.
