CRUSADER said:Yes European, most likely a Jetton (Jeton), I'll need some time with a thick book to ID.

Brass Jetton (Jeton, rechenfpennig) - Reckoning counter/token (used on exchequer boards to work out taxes etc)
The first picture is the image of the 'Lion of Saint Mark' standing left, nimbate & winged, holding book of the Gospels in right fore-paw with large halo projecting into margin & surmounted by a cross.
Legend reads: SANTVS:MARGGVS:NI
Second picture (reverse) would have shown:
Cross on Orb (known as treasure) with 3 pairs of annulets outside
HANS SCHVLTES NMOIN
Made by Hans Schultes II of Nuremberg, Germany between 1586-1603.
Should be circa 27mm. 8.78g
