I can't tell from photos. I'd take it to a GOOD coin dealer to look at it. Did you dig it? They did make these in 1652. Massachusetts coin.

If that is real, it may be the best example I've ever seen. Can you post with dirt rinsed off (don't rub it at all)?

It looks cast though, and too thick.

It looks cast to me which would make it a copy, but I am sure an expert here will tell you more. Can we see the edge?

Massachusetts 1652 Shilling, large planchet, Should be 27-31mm in diameter and if genuine it's worth a LOT. They have been reproduced, look around the edge to see if there is a casting line.

sure just rinse it under warm water? its got a couple thick blackish spots its.
around the same size as a quarter but not round, well its mostly round its a little yellowy amberish and looks kind of greenish blue under light at different angles.

Yes, look at it on the edge. There will be a thin line most if not all the way around it if it is cast. I asked for help here for a couple Roman "silver" coins awhile back. Found out all there were new reproductions. I got them in a small coin collection I bought. Oh well. They had a small line running around the edges, denoting modern castings.

Well, in my red book on coins, this one is not pictured, as the lettering arrangement is off, altho it looks very much to both sides of the Mass. Pine Tree coinage -
of a different period of 1667-1682.
So, experts will have to let you know..., but it is likely a rare coin - get it graded and slabbed...!
Good Find!

I put up some more pictures but I'm not seeing any cast lines unless I'm looking in the wrong spot ????

On the side with the date, in some photos it appears that plating is peeling off a die cast base.

I think this coin was supposed to be silver. Drop it from a few inches onto a hard surface. It should ring. Base metal plated will go "thud".

it sounds EXACTLY like my 1964 Kennedy Half which I'm pretty sure is almost all silver too correct?

I hope it's real! That's an awesome find.
