Went to a public pool in my area and was able to find 2 wheats 1953 and 1945, a gold gilt button with Waterbury cos Conn. Back stamp it has some type of hunting or nature scene on the front. Also found $30 in change, bullet shell that is head stamped 43 TW and a green marble reflector... Any information on the bullet for a button would be great :-)

Wow, if you pulled out that much change, there HAS to be some gold and silver jewelry hiding there too. I definitely would go back and hunt it again.

I know right I was surprised that I didn't even find a silver ring not even a junk one

Hey BHG, cool finds, the bullet casing was made in 1943, it's a military piece of ammo, WWII era.

cartridge size looks to be .45 long. really hard to tell from a picture. looks to be made for an automatic since it has the tapered extractor groove.

That's an amazing face amount of coins especially all those quarters. Great decision to detect at that spot! I've never found that much in one day. :icon_scratch: I found a similar shell casing today at an old farm but with a 43 and an M on it. The 43 identifies the year of manufacture and the TW (on yours) the ordinance plant. Looks like Twin Cities to me. I weighed mine and it comes in at 1.56 oz ... that's really heavy for a casing and mine isn't complete. Check out this site for more info: Headstamp Codes - International Ammunition Association

Thanks a lot my detector seems to find more quarters and dimes than anything :-)

Nice going on that boatload of clad BHG. And public pool areas are notorious for giving up gold jewelry so don't give up.
