together with the black glassed bottle we found this plate, what we assume is silver, can anyone tell me some more about it ?
Hi: Excellent bottles, obviously rare and valuable. About your plate, before I think silver I think pewter unless you know for a fact that it is silver. Nice edge showing.

I'm not an expert on this stuff but I think immediately of Port Royal (Jamaica), the city that sank in 1692 due to an earthquake. Archaeologists have the situation under control and have made a ton of dives bringing material similar to yours and they have processed the items to bring them back to their former glory. You ought to research Port Royal, get names of people you can contact so that they can guide you on how to process and value yours.

I'm leaning heavily toward Pewter for the plate. Silver tends to coat black in saltwater.

Nice bottles,,, I would say 1730-1760, It contained wine. Do not assume Spanish, as it could very well be English. Worth anywhere from $100-200.

The second bottle is more recent upwards to 100 yrs old. Worth $15-25.

Glad your leaning towards Pewter, Because that's what it is. That was the plate of the period, along with wooden plates, and ceramics.

Hope these comments help.
