Though not my best or most valuable find, this circa 1940 sterling silver magnetic St. Christopher medal with lightning bolt is my coolest find. Medal depicts a C1940 car, a train, an ocean liner and propeller-driven airplane to the top and bottom. Also, though medal is not marked sterling, my business partner saw this item at an antique show in its original box, and the box or paperweight inside stated that the medal is sterling. I found this medal in a small section of woods along Route 25A in the Northport-Fort Salonga area and it was found near the road. Magnet still works and I have the medal attached to the metal speaker cover at the center top of the dashboard near the windshield in my car. It's been on my dashboard about four years now, and so far it works real good!

Certainly not my most valuable finds, first is a set of lead knuckles found by an old pier. Second is a handle off a coffin, which won runner up in an oddest find contest here a few years ago. Found in an old park across from a church

I think one of my coolest finds was this Scarificator blood letting tool used in the old days as a way to rid a person of disease.
This medical practice is what some believe killed George Washington, due to too much blood being taken in such a shot time.
I made a display & donated it to our local mueum.

Really cool of you to donate it. Spreading the love so we all can learn something. Thanks! :icon_thumright:

Topics a bit old......but here`s mine. Looks to be from a coat rack.

is there a slot in the end of your lead knuckles? the shape kind of leads me into believing maybe a Skull Buster type knife

Here's the find that almost blew me away! Found fully loaded a foot deep in wet sand at low tide-- with no rust on it at all! It hadn't been there very long. Found a couple days after New Year's Day-- I think someone was trying to make some life-changing decisions. The spooky part was I made certain I could go to the exact spot I found it in case the police wanted to investigate. A month later there was a little kid in diapers digging in the exact same spot!

Right after I found this I wrapped it in my pouch and walked to the car, put it inside and locked the car. Then I went to the lifeguard tower and reported it. They had cops there in under a minute! I had to wait 90 days to see if I could get it back (I did, and still have it), and before storing it the cops just rinsed it off and took the bullets out. So that's where the rust came from-- 90 days on the shelf.

Not sure if its the most valuable but I think this badge from a old Buick mayflower is probably the coolest.

Found this love token made from a 1854 seated quarter...Thought it was very cool....Love the detail on it....Im sure it was very special to someone at onetime.

The markings on the back located on opposing flats look as if this may have been soldered to a ring base and worn as a signet ring..... Never know.

1840 sword guard from Monroe Co. WVA, one of my favorites. I found it while looking for arrowheads, no arrowheads that day but I was happy to come home with this!
